Little Orange Room is a freckly, red-head Norwegian who long ago had an idea involving neighborhood snobbery and pride in Seattle. People love their districts here, as they should, so there was a reason to celebrate. The collection was brought to fruition in 2009 out of an impossibly small orange studio overlooking Green Lake. Locals, tourists and ex-pats alike delight in adorning their chubby babies and wild-child toddlers in this über-local Seattle gear. The company now covers over 25 areas of Greater Seattle, plus a small graphic tee collection. Little Orange Room proudly uses American manufacturers for shirts, inks and other supplies. All water-based inks are environmentally safe.
Anne-Lise, the main lady, is a fine arts graduate from University of Washington. After ten years as a stylist and visual manager at Nordstrom and Anthropology, she retired her pencil skirts and kitten-heel pumps and started drawing. Her studio is now in Edmonds where she prints while her boys (mercifully) nap.
